Natural gas supplier, firmus energy, is supporting Catchlight Camera Club’s regular guest lecture series, which brings guest expert photographic speakers from across the UK and Ireland. These are open to camera clubs across the province.

Catchlight Photographic Lecture Series

Paul Nugent, from firmus energy, said:

“We have worked in partnership with Catchlight Camera Club over the past year with members of the club judging our popular facebook photographic competitions.

“The Club is very active and has put together an excellent programme of events that are open to camera clubs across Northern Ireland.

“I would encourage as many keen enthusiasts to attend as possible as the hints and tips from the expert lecturers can make such a difference to shots.”

Terry McCreesh, Catchlight Club Chairman, said:

“Catchlight Camera Club was set up in 2012 to help beginners improve, assist anyone interested in obtaining Distinctions and to generally improve the standard of members’ photography.
“With the help and support of firmus energy, we are bringing some of the best photographers in the UK and Ireland to Belfast to show their work and talk about their experiences in photography. We also open these talks to members of other NIPA affiliated clubs".

Chris Palmer, FRPS, EFIAP, DPAGB, APAGB

The Club’s most recent event, supported by firmus energy, saw 71 photographic enthusiasts gather to hear award-winning expert, Chris Palmer, who has been taking pictures since he was seven. Now a retired air traffic controller, Chris has visited more than 200 camera clubs across the UK, judging many regional, national and international exhibitions.

Mr McCreesh continued:

“Our first speaker, Chris Palmer FRPS, EFIAP, DPAGB, APAGB, has won many awards for his work from both national and international exhibitions. At our December meeting, he brought a varied selection of his landscape work along with the panel of prints which successfully earned him the Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society

Chris was a very entertaining speaker with a great wealth of knowledge which he shared with those attending. Feedback on the night was very positive and we look forward to our next Catchlight/firmus energy lecture in January.”
