Newry festival of Water
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Michael Ruane, recently launched the 2016 firmus energy Newry City Triathlon, which forms part of the Newry City Festival of Water.
This year’s Triathlon will take place on Sunday 28 August and is a highlight of the Festival which also includes the DUNE Half Iron Man, Newry City Iron kids, Newry Boat and Raft Race as well as many other water-based, family activities as well as a floating restaurant.
Angeline Murphy, marketing manager of firmus energy, commented: “We are delighted to be supporting the Newry City Triathlon once again. It is a great endurance contest for both beginners and experienced triathletes.

“It is often regarded as the fastest sprint triathlon is Ireland due to its flat route and Newry Canal will again be the venue for the swim and it promises to be a very challenging event for competitors. Last year’s event was a great success and we hope that the 2016 Triathlon will attract even more participants and visitors to the City.
