firmus energy staff raises £20,000 for SHINE

Natural gas supplier, firmus energy, has raised a staggering £20,000 for its nominated charity, SHINE, the organisation which is dedicated to supporting babies, children, adults and their families who are living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, a build-up of fluid on the brain.

firmus energy's 10th birthday gala ball raised £4,000

As part of their support for SHINE, firmus energy employees have taken part in various CSR activities to raise money for the charity including barbeques and coffee mornings, themed team building days as well as more challenging tasks like taking part in marathons and triathlons, in order to raise as much money as possible. An auction and raffle was also held at firmus energy’s 10th birthday gala celebrations in aid of SHINE, which raised more than £4,000.

Shine's invaluable charity work across Northern Ireland

Michael Scott from firmus energy explained:

“At firmus energy, as well as bringing the option of natural gas to thousands of homes and businesses, we are focused on ensuring that we make a positive contribution to local communities across Northern Ireland. We have greatly enjoyed supporting the work of SHINE and I am extremely proud to hand over this fabulous amount which will go towards Shine’s invaluable work in the local community. Thank you to firmus energy staff for really getting behind our nominated charity and all our stakeholders who kindly donated throughout the year.”

Cathy McKillop
, from SHINE, added:

“We are delighted to be associated with firmus energy as it reached its tenth anniversary and we would like to give heartfelt thanks to the company and their employees for their enthusiastic fundraising efforts over the past year.  This year is also SHINE’s 50th Anniversary, and we are currently helping more than 800 families across Northern Ireland.  This much-needed donation will allow us to continue to support our members across Northern Ireland by providing specialist support to everyone living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, as well as to parents, families, and carers. Our first contact with a family is when, at the 20 week anomaly, there is a diagnosis of spina bifida. This donation is helping SHINE enable children, young people and adults get the best out of life.”
