Local natural gas company, firmus energy has been operating throughout Northern Ireland since 2005, bringing the benefits of this energy efficient fuel to over 85,000 homes and businesses. We have built our company, and everything we do around our brand values of Clarity, Empathy, Integrity and Teamwork – they are at the heart of everything we do – how we operate, how we communicate and how we interact with everyone.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) remains a cornerstone of our activities as we continue to extend our 1,100km pipeline network into new areas across Northern Ireland. Operating in over 30 towns, cities and villages, we have a dedicated CSR team that manages our activities and selects key projects to work on throughout the year to improve the communities in which we operate. Our Charity of the Year 2018, voted by our staff members, is the leading suicide prevention and crisis support charity, Lighthouse. Over the last three years we have raised over £40,000 for local Charites. Last year, our fundraising donation for Sands NI went towards building a bereavement suite for the delivery unit in Antrim Area Hospital.

 

As a natural gas distribution company our network construction involves laying pipes on a daily basis in many local communities. We work hard to ensure we communicate with local families and elected representatives the benefits of bringing natural gas to their area. With regular community presentations, community mailers and press releases we inform the local residents of the benefits of displacing old, inefficient fuel sources. Since 2005 we have displaced over 650k tonnes of C02 – equivalent to taking 220,000 cars of our roads, making the air cleaner in local communities.

 

firmus energy’s CSR strategy allows all employees to become involved in activities which range from organising events to partaking in ‘Time to Read’ – a literacy programme helping bridge the gap in reading skills for children up to the age of ten  . The company has a ‘can do’ attitude and with the support of everyone in the business, firmus energy hopes to continue to make a difference, through enhanced CSR, to its increasing local communities in 2018 and beyond.
