Antrim residents - let’s flip - its pancake Tuesday!

You 'batter' believe it - householders in Antrim can 'flip' to their heart's content this Pancake Tuesday (4 March) confident that, if they are firmus energy natural gas customers, they will have the most controllable cooking available at a low cost!

Shelly Burns, from firmus energy, explains:  “Natural gas is great for pancake making as you can ensure the temperature is just right for your Shrove Tuesday treats – there is nothing worse than burnt or uncooked areas and natural gas allows you to remain fully in control of the temperature.

“Pancakes don’t just have to be an after-dinner treat with lemon and sugar – you can break with tradition in the kitchen at breakfast, lunch and dinner this Pancake Tuesday.  For example, freshly made pancakes with butter and jam make a great start to the day and for lunch or dinner, for a little indulgence, you could try a savoury pancake with ham, mustard and cheese or even pesto and chicken.

“Experimenting in the kitchen is something that we at firmus energy are encouraging and we are fuelling the kitchens of baking superstars across Northern Ireland, both amateurs and professionals.  There is nothing nicer than the aromas of home baking and cooking and it is great for the whole family to become involved in the creative kitchen process.”

Natural gas is a practical, convenient, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly energy source that is available to many areas of Northern Ireland, including homes and businesses in Antrim.  So far, the company has connected more than 2500 customers in the area with plans to connect even more to natural gas during the coming months.

Shelley continues:  “Natural gas is popular as it is piped directly into homes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which means homeowners do not need to worry about running out or re-ordering the fuel. It also remains extremely cost-effective and is the most environmentally-friendly of all the fossil fuels.

“Although we hope to be enjoying Shrove Tuesday as the first shoots of spring appear, it is hard not to look back to last March when we experienced the worst snowfall in a long time.  With natural gas, customers will remain warm and toasty should adverse conditions affect Northern Ireland again this year, whereas those with oil heating systems may have difficulty as tankers could struggle to deliver in severe weather, leaving some homes without heat.

“If you are not yet a natural gas customer, by switching to the cost-effective fuel, you can significantly lower monthly fuel bills as well as accessing many other benefits, including instant hot water and an energy efficient heating system, helping to keep your family cosy and warm, whatever the weather.”

Shelley concluded:  “In case the weather does take a turn for the worse – make sure you have your butter, flour, eggs and your favourite toppings, such as lemon, sugar, chocolate spread and bananas, in the house ready for Pancake Tuesday!”
