firmus energy Statutory Board
Deryk King - Chairman
Deryk has over 20 years of CEO and board level experience. Immediately prior to his involvement with iCON, he was Chairman and Chief Executive of Direct Energy (North America) which he led from its establishment by Centrica in 2000 to become a business with 5,000 employees and €7 billion of revenues. Prior to this, he was Group Managing Director and a board member of Powergen plc and occupied senior management roles in ICI Group. Deryk is a member of iCON’s Investment Committee and Chairman of general partners within the iCON group of funds.
Michael Scott - Managing Director
Michael is the Managing Director of firmus energy. Michael started his career in British Gas – North Thames. He worked for over ten years within the Northern Ireland natural gas industry, before taking up a post with firmus energy in January 2006. Since joining firmus energy, Michael has been responsible for business regulation, transportation services, gas purchasing, customer operations and systems development. He was recently charged with managing firmus energy’s entry into the Greater Belfast natural gas supply market before taking up the role of Managing Director for firmus energy in April 2012.
Greg Bell - Finance Director
Greg is the finance Director of firmus energy. Previously Greg was Group Finance Director at ASG exploring joint venture opportunities as well as managing the finances of its marketing, communications, internet and property activities. Prior to that Greg joined NIE PLC from PWC, working through privatisation, and as Corporate Finance Manager was Project Manager for the Creation of Viridian Group PLC, as well as managing other international assignments.
Sarah is responsible for asset management at iCON Infrastructure LLP, and has over 15 years of operational and strategic experience in the energy and utilities sector. Sarah has previously held responsibilities for strategy, M&A and post-merger integration at a major UK utility and has also worked as a strategy and corporate finance advisor to UK and international projects in energy supply, trading, retail and networks.
Peter joined the iCON Team in 2007 and has over a decade of experience in infrastructure and private equity. Since joining iCON, Peter has worked on a number of investments and exits across a broad range of infrastructure sectors. Originally trained as a lawyer at a leading corporate firm, Peter has played a key role in transactions with an aggregate enterprise value in excess of €10 billion.
Michael A O’Sullivan - Independent Non Executive Director
With more than 30 years’ experience in Bord Gáis Eireann, Michael O’Sullivan has significant senior executive level experience in project management of major engineering projects, finance and treasury operations, utility regulation, strategy and business planning and major commercial contract negotiation. Currently a consultant, he also has experience in various non-executive roles including that of Board Chair in the energy, healthcare and finance sectors.
Angela Reavey - Independent Non Executive Director
Angela Reavey, who established her own consulting practice, Capaxo Ltd, in August 2012 has more than 20 years’ experience working at senior executive level in both the public and private sectors. A past Chairman of the Chartered Accountants Ireland - Ulster Society, and former Board member of the Northern Ireland Science Park Foundation, Angela currently acts as Trustee of NISP CONNECT, the not for profit organisation supporting technology start-ups.
