Second firmus energy lecture series with Adrian Lines

The second event in Catchlight Camera Club’s regular guest lecture series, supported by natural gas company, firmus energy, recently took place with guest speaker Adrian Lines.  Attendees at the event came from camera clubs across the province.

Lecture is open to all camera clubs across Northern Ireland

Cathchlight Camera Club, which meets regularly in Finaghy, has organised the lecture series, which is open to all camera clubs across Northern Ireland, to bring photographic experts from the UK and Ireland to speak to attendees.

Terry McCreesh, Catchlight Club Chairman, explains:  “This was another enjoyable night with a very eccentric, witty character in the form of Adrian Lines MPAGB, FBPE. Adrian’s lecture, the second in the firmus energy sponsored series, drew a large audience of local photographers keen on picking up Adrian’s tips for producing award winning images.  It was great to meet club members travelling from Lurgan, Portadown, Banbridge, Ballycastle and Belfast.  This was a free event and information on upcoming events can be found on the Catchlight website, www.catchlightcameraclub.co.uk.

Paul Nugent, from firmus energy, explains:  “Catchlight Camera Club has started 2016 with another outstanding guest speaker. Our second firmus energy lecture featured Adrian Lines MPAGB, FBPE, EFIAP, ARPS from Chorley Photographic Society in Lancashire. Adrian’s work has been described as ‘creative’, ‘imaginative’ and ‘digital art’.  Using elements from a number of different photographs – people, places, objects and textures – he combines them to create a new story. Sometimes straightforward, sometimes surreal but always sublime, it is no surprise that Adrian has risen to prominence so quickly.

Catchlight have an excellent programme of events

“We have worked in partnership with Catchlight Camera Club over the past year with members of the club judging our popular facebook photographic competitions. The Club is very active and has put together an excellent programme of events that are open to camera clubs across Northern Ireland.  I would encourage as many keen enthusiasts to attend as possible as the hints and tips from the expert lecturers can make such a difference to shots.”

Terry McCreesh, Catchlight Club Chairman, explains:  “Catchlight Camera Club was set up in 2012 to help beginners improve; assist anyone interested in obtaining Distinctions and to generally improve the standard of members’ photography. We are delighted to have firmus energy’s support, allowing us to bring some of the best photographers in the UK and Ireland to Belfast to show their work and talk about their experiences in photography. We also open these talks to members of other NIPA affiliated clubs.

Les Forrester ARPS DPAGB AFIAP

“The next event in the series welcomes Les Forrester ARPS DPAGB AFIAP on Wednesday 23 March. Les produces images that portray a personal vision covering numerous subjects including landscape, cityscape, portraiture, fashion and sport in both monochrome and colour. His work has featured in many publications earning him the Landscape Photographer of the Year and Black and White Magazine Photographer of the Year awards. For further information on the event and registration details, please contact Terry McCreesh via www.catchlightcameraclub.co.uk.”
