With just over a week to go until this year’s firmus energy Newry City Triathlon, part of the Newry City Festival of Water, the natural gas company has joined forces with local businesses in encouraging people of all ages and levels to sign up to the main event, the fastest sprint triathlon in Ireland.
The lead partner in this year’s event, Newry Business Improvement District (BID) has worked hard to involve local businesses in supporting this popular event. Local eatery Synge & Byrne have continued their sponsorship of the festival, alongside Rostrevor based firm East Coast Adventure centre. Local Community Groups are also involved, members of Down GAA will marshal the event and members of the Special Olympics Kayak Club are involved in water safety for participants.
Paul Stanfield, Director of Sales, Marketing & Customer Operations at firmus energy said:

Whether you are a beginner or an old pro looking to beat your personal best there is something for everyone at this event. It is great to see so many local business supporting the triathlon and overall festival of water, and really highlights the business spirit that
Newry has”.

“We came on board as sponsors because we love to see people doing the impossible and overcoming their own expectations. We are happy to be working with Newry BID to support local business opportunities and to bring people into our community. We’ve swam, cycled and run every meter of this race ourselves and we want to help people experience the pure joy and sense of achievement that comes from crossing the finish line - it can't be beaten”.
