firmus energy, the company who is bringing natural gas to homes and businesses in Portadown, recently announced its support of the County Armagh Junior Tennis Championships which run from 4-9 August at Edenvilla Park, Portadown.

Jennifer Lynott, marketing officer for firmus energy explains, “We have been working hard in the local area for a number of months to bring the practical, environmental and cost benefits of natural gas to many homes and businesses in Portadown. In each of the towns and cities in which we work, it is part of firmus energy’s ethic to contribute positively to the community and so we try support local initiatives and projects where possible.

“This tournament is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar in County Armagh and firmus energy is delighted to play a part in harvesting the tennis talent of the local area. I am sure the competition will be as close and as gripping as this summers Wimbledon final. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone taking part the best of luck and hope play isn’t too interrupted by the rain!”

Lyn Jamison, chairman of Portadown Tennis Club and president of Tennis Ireland, in welcoming the support from firmus energy, comments, “This event is part of a series of Ulster Tennis Tournaments and continues to go from strength to strength with more than 100 players from Ulster Tennis Clubs taking part. This is an important tournament which will give participants the opportunity to improve their tennis ranking and possibly progress to the regional and even all Ireland squad and so plays a significant role in developing local young tennis players.

“Organising and holding a tournament of this size wouldn’t be possible without the help and financial assistance of local businesses and I would like to take this opportunity to thank firmus energy for their support, proving that they are an integral part of our community.”

firmus energy has been working hard to bring natural gas to customers in Craigavon, Lurgan, Banbridge, Derry, Limavady, Coleraine, Ballymoney, Ballymena, Antrim, and Newry. The company is also working to connect customers in Armagh and Portadown later this year.
