New season 'kicks off' at Lurgan Celtic F.C. with support from firmus energy
For most, the end of the summer holidays can mean darker nights and colder weather.
For football fans across Lurgan however, it signifies the beginning of the season at Lurgan Celtic Football Club, and for the players, the beginning of tough training sessions and weekly fixtures.
To help kick off the new season, firmus energy, the company supplying natural gas to homes in Lurgan and across nine other towns in Northern Ireland, recently announced its continued support for the club.
Neil Holland, head of sales and marketing for firmus energy commented, "We're delighted to offer our support to the club and the players for the year ahead. As we are now supplying gas to homes and businesses in the Lurgan area, we like to ensure we give something back to the community by supporting local initiatives.
"We appreciate how important the team is to the town with the first home game pulling in 150 spectators. Football matches are a great outing for the whole family. There is nothing more enjoyable than braving the winter weather to go to a match and then come home to a cosy night in front of the gas fire. We wish the team every success for the season ahead."
Maurice McEvoy, club chairman said, "Our season kicked off on the 15th August and we have already won our first two matches in the league. We have built a new all seated stand for the stadium which will be opened on the 19th September with a home game against Chimney Corner. We at Lurgan Celtic FC appreciate fully the generosity of local businesses and without the support and generosity our club could simply not survive. Sponsorship is very much appreciated by everyone at the club."
