firmus energy takes a pledge for a healthier workplace
Antrim-based company firmus energy, who provides natural gas to homes and businesses across Northern Ireland, has signed up to the ‘Business Action on Health Campaign’ which is organised by ‘Business in the Community’.
‘Business Action on Health’ aims to highlight the business benefits of better health at work and to make reporting on workplace health issues commonplace in Northern Ireland boardrooms.
Sue Robinson, central services manager for firmus energy explained, “The health and well-being of our employees is one of our main priorities and this formal pledge confirms and highlights firmus energy’s commitment to a healthy workplace.
“This pledge means that we will promote opportunities to increase our employees’ knowledge and awareness of various health issues. For example we had information packs available on ‘No Smoking Day’ for employees wanting to give up and, over the next few months, we will have visits from various health charities and organisations.
“We are dedicated to providing our employees with the support and information to help improve their overall health and well-being. This will ensure that our employees are healthy and motivated and able to give their best for our customers.”
Last year, firmus energy also received the Investors in People (IIP) recognition and were formally assessed with regard to staff training, development and overall company performance.
“We are committed to our employees and to ensuring that they have job satisfaction and continuous development. This new health pledge together with our ‘Investors in People’ recognises firmus energy as one of the most responsible employers in the Antrim area”, Sue added.
Tanya Kennedy, Workplace Director for Business in the Community said, “This is a great commitment by firmus energy, positively impacting on the health and wellbeing of their employees. This not only makes good business sense, but has wider benefits for the individuals, their families and the wider community.”
