firmus energy, which supplies natural gas to Derry and nine other towns across Northern Ireland has given a boost to the Foyle Cup football tournament by coming back on board for another year to sponsor the under-11s’ category of the competition.
The Foyle Cup, recognised as Ireland’s premier International Youth football tournament is a key fixture in the City’s calendar, bringing together local, national and international soccer talent as well as drawing in crowds of supporters year after year.
Neil Holland, sales and marketing manager, firmus energy said, “firmus has been operating in Londonderry for a number of years now and we’re committed to continuing to explore ways in which we can provide support for the community, through local groups, schools or sporting events.
“We’re pleased to be back at the Foyle Cup for our fourth year and supporting the under-11s’ category. The tournament is a great chance for our aspiring local talent to pit their skills against young players from further a field. It’s also nice to think that we might be championing the Darren Gibsons and Robbie Keanes of the future.”
Welcoming the support from firmus energy, Tournament Chairman, Michael Hutton said, “The ongoing success of this tournament must be attributed to the generosity of all sponsors involved. We’re delighted to have firmus back on the ‘team’, sponsoring the Under-11s. Their commitment over the years has cemented their standing in the community as a local company and we wish them well in continuing to bring natural gas to Derry and the North West.”
The Foyle Cup takes place in Derry City and surrounding towns from July 21st-25th.
