firmus energy employees recently ‘legged it’ in the Belfast marathon for the company’s nominated charity, FACE Inclusion Matters. The natural gas company colleagues Kevin McSherry, Roisin Allen, Oonagh Malone and Lawrence Hanna each completed a section of the gruelling 26 mile race.

Kevin McSherry, engineering manager for firmus energy explains, “As part of firmus energy’s business ethic to ensure we continue to make a positive contribution to the community, we were delighted with this opportunity to take part in the Belfast Marathon, raising £500 for FACE inclusion matters.

“Although challenging, the team had worked very hard in the ‘run-up’ to the event and it really paid off. Not only was it a great team bonding exercise but we hope that the funds raised will make a significant difference to the young people FACE works with.’

Rainer Pagal, director of Belfast-based FACE inclusion matters comments, “Since firmus energy was established back in 2006, the company has had an ongoing relationship with the charity and has provided us with invaluable support through donations, advice and help in kind which has had a significant contribution to our progress and development.

“Face works right across Northern Ireland and aims to heighten understanding and achieve inclusion of young people with and without disabilities in our community and encourage them to make more of life together.

“On behalf of the charity, I would like to extend my gratitude to firmus energy and the staff members taking part. This fund-raising activity is a further example of how firmus energy is willing to ‘go that extra mile’ – literally in this case - to help out a worthy cause.”
