Action Heats Up at Celtic Park – thanks to firmus energy

Derry’s County Team heroes need never live in fear of a cold shower on an all-important match day – thanks to firmus energy.

Seamus Mullan, Chairman of the GAA Derry City Oversight Group and Vice Chairman of the Celtic Park Management Committee along with Neil Holland, head of sales and marketing, firmus energy.

There’s no danger the venue will run out of fuel after making the switch from Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the more cost effective and environmentally friendly natural gas. The move, which is part of a major programme of investment and upgrade at the sporting venue, costing about £1.8m, will not only offer cost and environmental savings but will also enable Celtic Park to monitor its energy usage more closely than ever before.

firmus energy, who supplies natural gas to domestic customers in ten towns across Northern Ireland, and supplies electricity and natural gas to Industrial and Commercial customers across the province, now supplies around 1,000 customers in the Derry area. According to Head of Sales and Marketing Neil Holland, many customers are choosing natural gas from firmus because of the cost benefits, transparent billing system, and high quality customer service offered by the company.

“Celtic Park, the Derry GAA’s main County grounds, wanted a reliable, clean and value for money energy solution, and as they were undergoing development at the grounds, it was the ideal time to make the switch to natural gas,” explained Neil. “Previously they were using LPG, which meant that they had to cope with the worry of running out of fuel. Now they can be assured of a consistent supply, and with a meter they can keep a close eye on how much energy they are using, when they are using it, and see exactly what it is costing. It is this transparency which businesses appreciate, as it takes away the stress of worrying about energy costs. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Celtic Park, and as a sponsor of the grounds, we look forward to seeing the improvements first hand on our next visit.”

Seamus Mullan, Chairman of the GAA Derry City Oversight Group and Vice Chairman of the Celtic Park Management Committee, commented: “For us it was common sense to switch to natural gas from firmus due to the benefits it offers, particularly in terms of cost. We have been involved in a number of upgrades to the grounds, including the installation of a new hot water system which will provide us with instant hot water. With a piped supply of fuel and a constant supply of hot water, we now have complete piece of mind that we won’t run out of hot water when we need it most. We also recognise that we are doing our bit in terms of reducing our carbon emissions, which is another step in the right direction. We are very happy with the high level of customer service demonstrated by firmus throughout the installation process, and look forward to reaping the benefits of natural gas.”
