firmus energy, the company which supplies natural gas to 12 towns and cities
across Northern Ireland, including Derry, has recently announced their support
of the popular Gasyard Wall Féile Family Funday which will be held on 26 July
in the Gasyard Park.
Jennifer Lynott, marketing officer for firmus energy said, “We are
delighted to be able to give our support to this festival. Being from Derry I
know how successful the Féile has been and I hope that with firmus energy’s
help the family funday can be even more enjoyable this year.
“With a mountain of activities taking place such as face painting,
inflatables, games, crafts and a disco, the family funday is sure to be one of
the highlights of the Féile. firmus energy will also be present with our
Caravan demonstrating the practical benefits which natural gas can bring and
where you can find out about the other advantages of switching to natural gas.
In addition to being cleaner for the environment, providing instant hot water
and more controllable cooking, natural gas is currently around 48% cheaper
than oil*.
“firmus energy has been working hard in the area to bring the practical,
environmental and the economic benefits of natural gas to the city. Last year
the company undertook a major engineering project to bring this new energy
choice across the Craigavon Bridge to enable us to connect Derry’s cityside. A
number of houses in the Bogside and Brandywell area have already been
connected, with work still continuing to enable more homes and businesses to
avail of natural gas.”
Veronica Deeney for Féile 08, in welcoming the support from firmus
energy commented, “The Derry Féile has been going for fifteen years and grown
from a one-day event to an annual 10 day festival full of arts, cultural and
community activity. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help and
financial assistance of local businesses and I would like to take this
opportunity to thank firmus energy for their support, proving that they are an
important part of our community.
“This year the Funday theme is ‘From Litter to Glitter’ and it
celebrates the great work of the local people who have recently undertaken a
number of cleanups of the neighborhood. The environment is a key issue and is
one we want to highlight to the younger generation and we appreciate the
support of an environmentally and socially responsible company such as firmus
energy.”
Féile 08 Outside will begin on 25 July to 3 August and includes a
variety of events with the ‘From Litter to Glitter Funday’ taking place from
1-4pm on Saturday 26 July.
